Introduction to the Bible | Summer Workshops

Select Sundays | 11:45am-1:15pm | Room 202


If you are new to the Christian faith, or would like to better understand how all the parts of the Bible fit together, this class is for you! This "Intro to the Bible" will include basic topics such as: how the Bible was created, the main message/story of the Bible, an overview of the Old and New Testaments, and how to study the different kinds of literature in the Bible.


The class will happen in room 202 right after the coffee time in the gym. Please feel free to bring your coffee or tea upstairs with you, as well as a snack or a packed lunch if you need to.


The class will be 4 sessions. Please take note that it is NOT every Sunday this summer, but only on these dates:


1: What is the Bible?, The Message of the Bible, Literary Styles

2: Overview of the Old Testament, How to Read Biblical Narrative/Poetry/Law

3: Overview of the New Testament, How to Read the Gospels/Parables/Letters

4: "Beginner's Guide to Studying the Bible" (Video teaching by Pastor Craig Groeschel)

Show & Tell Community Lunches

What is Show & Tell Lunch? Pastor Jennifer explains it in a video HERE.

Join us on Fridays, noon to 1:30 pm for a hot, home-cooked meal and dessert, as we showcase one of the many different organizations serving our community each week. Let's build connections with neighbours in our city and encourage them to continue their good work.

Choose Community

Community is an essential part of our church, as they provide a place where deeper fellowship and better support for one another can take place. Considering that the early church worshipped in large settings in the synagogues as well as in homes, we unite together similarly in order to be in deeper fellowship with God and one another. God has reconciled us not only to Himself but also to each other. This "each other" is called His Church. Thus, we intentionally strive toward community through focus groups, men's/women's groups, home gatherings, and other personal settings.

Women's Retreat 2024

Charis Camp in Chilliwack

Friday, Aug 16 - Sunday, Aug 18


Join us from at the serene Charis Camp in Chilliwack for a rejuvenating retreat centered on the theme of "Prayer." We are honored to have April Yamasaki as our speaker, guiding us into deeper conversations with God.


Arriving Friday evening, we will enjoy two nights of peaceful surroundings, five nourishing meals, and empowering sessions. This retreat promises meaningful fellowship, inspiration, and spiritual growth.

Big Church

Small Community

We have been created to live in a community and not in isolation. Physically, we do live in a community, but spiritually, socially, and relationally we often live our lives in isolation. We find ourselves with no one to turn to when we have a major issue that has just surfaced in our lives. Living in a community allows us to more wholly experience God through close relationships as we play and pray together, as we encourage and help one another, and as we study and live out God’s word together. Missional

Teams

We believe the church is the family of God called to live on mission to advance His Kingdom. Because we are God's children through Jesus, we are to live as brothers and sisters. The church is not a building, place, or program, but God's people.


Serving alongside one another is essential to growing in the Gospel and becoming more like Christ. Showing up to a Sunday gathering is great, but it is our desire to see everyone involved in a Ministry Team, serving in the way that best suits their gifts and talents. 


Ministry Teams are the heart of the life here at WRBC and enable our programs and events to fulfill the great commission. There are many areas to be involved in including worship, tech team, teaching, mentoring, and hospitality. If you’re interested in being a part of a Ministry Team, please contact us and we will connect you.

Support

Groups

For those in a difficult season of life, meeting together with others in similar situations can be a huge encouragement! Our support groups are always FREE and generally meet once or twice a month from September to June.


Our Caregiver's Support Group meets once a month, for those who are caring for a family member with physical or mental health challenges.

  • Sunday Evenings at 7pm
  • 2024 Dates: April 14, May 19 and June 9


The Grief Support Group is for anyone who has lost a loved one recently. Pastor Jennifer facilitates this group, with a focus on sharing and prayer, topical discussions, and helpful strategies for coping with grief.

  • 2024 Spring Dates: March 21, April 11 & 25, May 16 & 30 and June 20

The Alpha Course - Fall 2024

Alpha is an 11-week course that creates a space, where people are excited to bring their friends for a conversation about faith, life and God.


Dinner is provided by donation.
