Red Letter Challenge
Sun, May 3rd 10am - 11am
White Rock Baptist Church 1657 140 St Surrey, BC V4A4H1

What is it? The Red Letter Challenge is a 40-day commitment to hearing and doing the words of Jesus. Too often we study the Bible but don’t immediately put into practice what we read. Not this time! As you work through the daily lessons in the book, you will study Jesus’ words, and then be given a task – a practical challenge to do that day! This could include anything from giving sacrificially, to greeting a new neighbour, to forgiving someone who has hurt you. Once a week you will meet with your Life Group to discuss the successes and failures of the past week, and encourage each other to keep on going. For 40 days, let’s focus on making our actions match Jesus’ teachings! How do I participate? 1) Join a Life Group. If you’re not already part of a group that will be doing the Red Letter Challenge, there will be 2 groups meeting at the church every Wednesday for the duration of the challenge: one at 2 pm, and one at 7 pm. 2) Get the book. Books will be available to purchase from the Info Desk starting in mid-April. The church has subsidized the cost so that books are only $15 each. If you’re already in a Life Group, your Life Group leader will distribute the books to you and collect payment. 3) Pray about it. Start now to prepare your heart for this challenge. Spend some time with God committing yourself to pleasing him and following Jesus’ instructions. Make it personal! Why are we doing this at WRBC? 1) Because we want to take this command literally: “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” James 1:22 2) Because we want to promote unity by joining together as a whole church to do something with one heart and purpose: obeying Christ! Where can I find out more? 1) Check out the website: redletterchallenge.com (Be careful with your Google searches – there are multiple groups and ministries with the words “red letters” in their name. We will be studying the book by Zach Zehnder.) 2) Email Pastor Brian (brian@whiterockbaptist.ca) or Pastor Jennifer (jennifer@whiterockbaptist.ca). We’d be happy to answer any questions you may have!
